About
KU SHU SHU
KU SHU SHU is the brainchild of Australian-born designer, Judy Anderson. Anderson has long held the dream of her own label, and KU SHU SHU is the realization of that dream.
Meaning “it is hot” in the African Xhosa language, KU SHU SHU reflects Anderson’s international design experience. The garments strike a balance between sensuous luxury and flirtatiousness.
Anderson knew she wanted to design from a young age, designing and sewing her own clothes on her family farm in New South Wales. After formal training, her lingerie design talents led to an immediate job with Australian label, Pantissery. After helping Berlei Australia to become one of Australia’s most well-respected undergarment manufacturers, Anderson’s reputation and flair led to international offers, landing her first with Gossard UK and then designing for industry leader Marks & Spencer through Courtauld's Lingerie. By 2002, Anderson’s reputation for innovative and creative design, her corsetry construction expertise, and knack for finding the perfect fit in each garment was renowned within the industry. Anderson spent several years consulting for manufacturers across the globe, taking on increasingly senior assignments.
Feeling she had achieved all she could working for others, Anderson returned to Australia in 2006 to start KU SHU SHU and finally realize her childhood dream.
“KU SHU SHU is definitely the highlight of my career, but it’s more than that. KU SHU SHU is part old glamour and part new century flirt, or what I call ‘modern romance,’” Anderson says. “This is definitely a full circle for me. I love that I’m designing in Australia, for women who capture the spirit of both global adventure, and earthy sensuality.”
